What OceanCare has going on in 2027
2027 is a pivotal year for marine conservation. The first Conference of the Parties to the High Seas Agreement presents an opportunity to finally and effectively protect the high seas—which account for more than two-thirds of the oceans. OceanCare is working to ensure that political promises are turned into real conservation measures.
At the same time, the organization is working to end the plastic pollution crisis, both internationally and nationally in Switzerland, and uses its scientific expertise to give the oceans a strong voice in international political processes. A special focus is on the Mediterranean: Here, OceanCare advocates for reduced ship speeds, effective protection of critically endangered whales from deadly ship collisions, and an ambitious climate action plan for the region.
